DESCRIPTION:Pray: The Story of Patrick Peyton\nJoin us for a free showing of Pray: The Story of Patrick Peyton\n \nPRAY: THE STORY OF PATRICK PEYTON is an inspiring documentary about a poor\, uneducated Irish immigrant who sets sail for America in 1928 with nothing but his faith and dreams of becoming a millionaire. Arriving in Pennsylvania and unable to find work\, he accepts the position as a janitor at the cathedral\, which rekindles his long-lost desire to become a priest and changes the course of his life. Nearing ordination\, his life takes a radical turn when he is stricken with tuberculosis. Facing certain death\, he sinks into despair. \nA visit from his mentor\, who delivers a simple message to pray\, lifts the darkness. Taking his advice to heart\, Patrick prays fervently to Mary\, the Mother of Christ\, for her intercession and he experiences a miraculous recovery. Feeling deep gratitude\, he dedicates his life to telling all the world about the power of prayer and encourages families everywhere to bring prayer into their homes. Never taking “No” for an answer\, he convinces Hollywood’s biggest stars to help him spread the message\, “The family that prays together stays together\,” through the power of mass media including radio\, television\, and film. \nFather Peyton’s fame spreads around the world and audiences in the millions flock to his public prayer rallies. She studied organ performance at Cornell College and Ohio State University and ministry at the Theological School of Drew University. SUMMARY:Journeys in Leadership: Zaldwaynaka (“Z”) Scott
DESCRIPTION:President of Chicago State University\nZaldwaynaka (“Z”) Scott\, JD\, became the 12th permanent president of Chicago State University on July 1\, 2018. \nPresident Zaldwaynaka “Z” Scott has served as a transformative and visionary leader at Chicago State University\, guiding the institution through a period of historic renewal and strategic growth. As the only four- U.S. Department of Education-designated Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) in Illinois\, CSU has flourished under her leadership—embracing a bold new direction as a regional public university powerhouse. \nPresident Scott has championed a forward-looking mission grounded in academic excellence\, ethical leadership\, and innovation. \nA national voice for equity in higher education\, President Scott co-founded the National Coalition of Predominantly Black Institutions of Higher Education\, helping to launch the first-ever Congressional PBI Caucus. In Illinois\, she convened and co-chaired the Equity Working Group\, a cross-sector body focused on improving Black student access and success in higher education. The group’s recommendations have been cited in the Illinois Board of Higher Education’s strategic plan\, A Thriving Illinois\, and codified in the legislation that created the Illinois Commission on Equitable Public University Funding—underscoring her impact on shaping policy at the state and national levels. \nPresident Scott has been named one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ Most Powerful Women in Chicago Business (2018)\, a Notable Leader in Education (2023–2025)\, and a Notable Black Leader (2024). Her distinguished legal career has earned her national recognition in Chambers and Partners USA\, Best Lawyers in America\, Illinois Super Lawyers\, and Leading Lawyers\, among others. \nPresident Scott earned her Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
